Rellon Brown is the founder and musical director of the Dominant Seventh Calypso Jazz Band (2002). He is a highly versatile trumpeter, musical director, lecturer, arranger and composer hailing from the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, where he garnered a Cacique Award in 2005 for Most Outstanding Musical Direction for Eric Barrys’: “The Catalyst.” In 2016 with Dominant Seventh, Rellon produced the bands’ first CD titled: “HomeGrown.” In 2018, Rellon led his band Dominant Seventh to appearances at sold out concerts at Kaiso Blues Café and at Fiesta Plaza in Movietowne hosting Venezuelan Salsero Raul Martinez. In 2018 and 2019, Rellon journeyed to Guyana as a guest artist for the Emancipation Jazz and Blues Concert. Rellon has led D7 into the virtual performance environment with featured online and live streamed performances throughout 2020, 2021 and into 2022.
