Rellon Brown. Band Leader, Dominant Seventh Rellon Brown is a highly versatile trumpeter, musical director, lecturer, arranger and composer hailing from the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. The primary expression of his considerable musical abilities remain as founder and musical director of his band, the Dominant Seventh Calypso Jazz Band (2002) for whom he garnered a Cacique Award for Most Outstanding Musical Direction for Eric Barrys’: “The Catalyst” at the Little Carib Theatre in 2005. He also produced stellar musical arrangements for Monkey Mountain Foundations’ 2015 production of Derek Walcotts’ “Ti Jean And His Brothers” also held at Little Carib. With Dominant Seventh, Rellon produced the bands’ first CD titled: “HomeGrown” https://soundcloud.com/rellon-brown launched at the Little Carib Theatre in 2016 which remains a high water mark for indigenous music and an outstanding example of Calypso Jazz. For 2018, Rellon has led his band Dominant Seventh to appearances at sold out concerts at Kaiso Blues Café and at Fiesta Plaza in Movietowne where Dominant Seventh hosted Venezuelan Salsero Raul Martinez for the month of September, He is currently working on his next recording project with Dominant Seventh. Rellon lectures part time at The University of the Southern Caribbean and has lectured at The University of The West Indies and Caribbean Nazarene College. A committed autodidact, Rellon is the first trumpeter from the West Indies and the second brass player from the region to secure both LTCL and FTCL diplomas from Trinity College of Music, London.
